Week 2

First of all, we should mention that we are writing to you from a house with a SNAKE inside. We are currently unaware of it's whereabouts. The fact that Jordan hasn't found the next plane ticket home shows this trip MUST be a God thing, though she did refuse to come into the house for at least four hours.

We have had a good few days, though. We upgraded from our small room inside the house to a tent across the compound. Might not sound like an upgrade, but it is much cooler at night and we have much more space. Not to mention the absence of a snoring roommate. We miss her, but not her snoring. A relief team that we really enjoyed left early yesterday. We fell in love with these Texas guys so it was hard to see them go. A new team came last night, though, and another will be coming tomorrow. The hunt for hot missionary men is still on...

We talked to Delores earlier this morning and learned about a few upcoming ministry opportunities for us. The thing we're most excited about is next week when we will be delivering supplies and sharing Jesus with a secluded village in the mountains. The means of travel will be horseback! She also wants us to take a more active role in evangelism this week as we work with the medical team (through a translator of course, we're not that smart yet). We'll be gathering some art supplies as well to do some crafts with the kids at the orphanage and try to add some color to the concrete walls of the room they play, eat, and sleep in. We've already fallen in love with them as we got the chance the past few days to sing with them and give them some toys, simple gifts kids in the US would think nothing of. Some of our favorite moments so far are listening to them sing in English-Father Abraham and Lord, I lift your name on high!

The team that just left for Georgia was nice enough to take us out for dinner last night at one of the few restaurants in Port au Prince. It was exceptionally nice for being in Haiti, even though it took 2 hours to get our meal (no exaggeration). We would've been more excited about it, except for the fact it put us old ladies in bed an hour past our normal bedtime. Yes, we had to stay up until 930!

We'll edit this post hopefully soon and put some pictures and a video up..please be in prayer!
